There is an old saying in Latin America which points out that “habits make laws”. After 30 years of doing it every Friday night, singing Tango, which was once only mere entertainment, had become, for Chino, that is, Jorge García, the protagonist in “The Last Applause”, as essential as not forgetting to exhale after inhaling in order to keep on living.
Directed by Soll Schroder, this documentary film recreates the life of the world’s tango icon, Carlos Gardel. It is presented in black and white format, and it is constructed with material found in archives which include the Zorzal Criollo’s most important steps, from his birth to his tragic death in Colombia.

The film has the same name as the argentine classic starred by Carlos Gardel in 1935. This one, however, tells the story about two romantic musicinas, Antonio Estéves (Rubén Juárez) and Ricardo Padin (Raúl Juliá). Not only do they share their taste in music… They will find out they also share their taste in women. Better said, their interest in one specific woman.
